Content & Copyright Policy
This policy explains who owns what when guests upload media and we produce edits from it.
Last updated · 7 July 2026
1. Guest-uploaded media
Guests retain copyright in the photos and videos they upload. By uploading, each guest grants:
- The couple a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use the upload for personal, non-commercial purposes (viewing, keepsakes, sharing with family and friends, social media posts about their wedding).
- The Guest Take a limited licence to host, transcode, edit and deliver the media as part of the service.
2. Edits we produce
Highlight films, social edits and other derivative works we produce are delivered to the couple with the same personal, non-commercial licence. The couple may share them freely with friends and family and on personal social channels, and may credit "The Guest Take" if they wish. We retain copyright in the edit itself and may use short clips (with the couple's written permission) as portfolio examples.
3. Commercial use
Commercial use — including press, advertising or paid promotion — is not covered by the standard licence. Contact us for a bespoke licence.
4. Third-party rights
Guests must only upload content they have the right to share. Copyrighted music, professional photographer material and other third-party content should not be uploaded without permission.
5. Takedown requests (UK / DMCA-equivalent)
If you believe content on The Guest Take infringes your copyright, email contact@theguesttake.com with:
- Your name and contact details.
- A link to the infringing content on our service.
- A description of the original work and evidence of your rights.
- A statement, made in good faith, that the use is not authorised.
We will act on valid notices promptly and inform the couple.
6. Music in edits
All music used in edits we produce is licensed via commercial production-music libraries. We do not synchronise commercial chart music unless the couple provides valid licences.
